  • Wow! I’ve never owned a rotary-engined car and probably never will, but this build-up was fascinating to watch and so educational! The Wankel is so utterly different- it was like watching an alien spaceship being repaired...and what an absolute pleasure to witness a true master craftsman take us patiently through each step along the process. Great job...I learned a lot about rotaries! (Back in 1975, my Dad was cross-shopping a new Mazda RX-4 rotary wagon with an Audi Fox wagon (aka Audi 80 Avant) for my Mom as a daily driver. Dad was an engineer and was fascinated with the rotary technology...so of course he checked them out... In the end, and perhaps because of the Oil Crisis and the known fuel mileage issues with Mazda’s rotary tech of the Mid-‘70’s, he went for the Audi option...but he was a VW man from the word ‘go.’ I haven’t seen a single example of either car for more than 30 years, so who can say..?) Great episode for learning! 👍

  • Small comment on the Torrington bearing. The design comes from the town/small city of Torrington, Connecticut USA. Torrington back in the day was the silicon valley to all things bearings and part of the Naugatuck River Valley of manufacturing here in the state. (The wrist watch was another item to come from the area with Timex being founded in the city of Waterbury.) One of the other "famous" bearing manufacturers many recognize is Timken. They are a first class world supplier of all things bearings. A friend of mine's family has connections to the Timken family and from what I am told they are first class people. Great episode, I miss my 1987 RX-7 Turbo II sorely. Such a great engine design. I wish they kept refining it.

  • Somehow I watched this entire clip, I don't even know how or when I got here, i'm into motorbikes. Rotaries seem hella sick though. Not really a car guy but this was interesting and pretty informative for someone who knows d**k about rotaries.

  • And yet. is there anything an owner can do - to prevent it from pissing itself in the next 50kmiles? they all die so damn fast. No matter the driving or the oil or the ambient air.
